Last night, an incident occurred in Leipzig-Volkmarsdorf in which two police officers were injured. A 32-year-old German woman was observed by a witness wielding an iron bar and lashing out aggressively in the area of Konradstraße and Hermann-Liebmann-Straße. The police were eventually able to confront the woman in Hildegardstraße.
When the officers tried to calm the woman down, she turned the iron bar against them in a threatening manner, which made it necessary to intervene. In the ensuing struggle, the woman put up considerable resistance, injuring two police officers aged 23 and 24. They had to be taken to hospital and given medical treatment. Both are no longer fit for duty for the time being.
The police subsequently launched an investigation into the woman for resisting law enforcement officers and assault. Fortunately, no damage to property has been reported so far. This incident repeatedly shows the challenges and dangers that police officers face in their daily work.
