Promoted ThSV Eisenach won the hard-fought East derby against SC DHfK Leipzig. The Thuringians won 25:24 (11:12) in the Werner-Aßmann-Halle on Friday evening and recorded another victory after losing seven games. In front of 2740 spectators, Lukas Binder from SC DHfK was the best scorer of the game with seven goals. Simon Ernst was sent off in the 55th minute due to a red card.
"We play an incredibly good opening phase, then we bring Halle into the game. We have to learn from that," said Leipzig's Binder. Eisenach's Marko Grigic said on TV station Dyn: "It was a very tough game. We made life difficult for ourselves. Thank God we were able to play down the clock and take the win." Coach Misha Kaufmann, who extended his contract early until 2027, said after the game that he was "completely exhausted. I'm so proud of my boys. I want to continue to build a young team."
DHfK Leipzig got off to a much stronger start to the game and had already built a three-point lead after just five minutes. National player Franz Semper scored for DHfK in the 17th minute to make it 3:9. The club from Wartburg then recovered somewhat and scored five goals in a row. The half-time score of 11:12 was therefore deserved thanks to Eisenach's strong comeback.
