Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has extended the contract with young goalkeeper Timo Schlieck ahead of schedule. The 20-year-old has been given a contract until 2029, as the club announced. The goalkeeper, who is on loan to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, is currently battling against Rot-Weiss Essen in the relegation play-offs to avoid relegation from the second division.
Schlieck transferred to the Leipzig academy from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. The goalkeeper received his first professional contract in 2024 and was loaned out to RSC Anderlecht in the 2024/2025 season. Schlieck played 21 competitive matches for the second team in the Challenger Pro League at the traditional Belgian club. At Fürth, Schlieck made nine appearances this season.
