Fans' association warns against blanket judgment after riots

Following the riots at the match between Dynamo Dresden and Hertha BSC, the "Unsere Kurve" association is calling for a differentiated view of fan culture. Saxony's Minister of the Interior is being criticized.

The fan association "Unsere Kurve" has condemned the riots at the second division match between Dynamo Dresden and Hertha BSC and at the same time warned against generalization. Dresden supporters, wearing masks, ran along the pitch to the Hertha fan block and stole a guest flag. Pyrotechnics were shot back and forth. The match was interrupted twice. Police officers on the pitch tried to get the incident under control.

Before the riots, the match had "advertised German soccer and its fan culture", according to the statement from "Unsere Kurve". "A full stadium, sensational choreography on both sides, exemplary use of pyrotechnics without any damage or injuries and an atmosphere that is the envy of German soccer abroad." The incidents are now a matter for the investigating authorities.
