Two European champions at the Golden Oval in Dresden

With Piotr Lisek and Emmanouil Karalis, two European pole vault champions will be competing at the Golden Oval athletics meeting in Dresden. The 32-year-old Pole Lisek is one of the greats in his discipline, having won a total of five world championship medals indoors and outdoors and the title at the 2017 European Indoor Championships. The 25-year-old Greek Karalis is his country's record holder at 6.05 meters, won Olympic bronze in Paris and is the reigning European indoor champion.

The two top jumpers will be challenged by the European Indoor Championship finalist Bo Kanda Lita Baehre from Düsseldorf, among others. The 2022 European Championship silver medallist finished ninth at the Olympic Games in Paris. Other starters in the pole vault in Dresden include Latvian record holder Valters Kreiss and World Championship participant Gillian Ladwig from Schweriner SC.
