What a week. RB Leipzig has dominated the headlines over the past seven days—not so much because of the grueling, sweat-inducing training sessions at the training camp in Saalfelden, but rather because of its activity in the transfer market and injury reports.
There was the transfer of star player Yan Diomande to Real Madrid. The Saxons are reportedly set to receive 125 million euros plus bonuses for the Ivorian. Then the planned transfer of Fisnik Asllani fell through. RB was reportedly willing to pay 25 million for the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim forward. But Asllani failed the medical exam—a rather rare occurrence.
And then there was Assan Ouedraogo’s latest injury. The 20-year-old, one of RB’s biggest hopes, will once again be sidelined for weeks, this time with a capsular injury in his right shoulder. Even though the medical staff spoke only of “a few weeks,” it’s yet another blow to Leipzig’s plans.
