Hat-trick in nine minutes: Cigerci keeps Energie in the race
The Cottbus soccer madness has a name: Tolcay Cigerci. When hardly anyone still believed in a turnaround at 1-3 against Rot-Weiss Essen, the hour of the gifted technician struck. 2:3 with a penalty, 3:3 with a directly converted free-kick, 4:3 with a brilliant 20-meter shot. And all in nine minutes between the 73rd and 82nd minute. In the end, the Lusatians won 5:3, bringing them very close to a direct promotion place again. One point is still missing to Essen.
"You come to the stadium for games like this," enthused Cigerci on MagentaSport. It wasn't just his goals that were worth the entrance fee. From the first to the last minute, the top match in the 3rd division was rightly called that. "You can't deliver something like that without the crowd. But of course you have to have the willpower. We always believed in ourselves, even after going behind," emphasized the man of the match, who still sees a lot of work to be done. The two goals conceded from set-pieces particularly bothered Cigerci. "We have to do something about that. We've simply conceded too many of those in the recent past," said the attacking force.
