FC Erzgebirge Aue have achieved the hoped-for escape in the 3rd Football League. With a 2:0 (1:0) win against TSV 1860 Munich, the team from Saxony closed the gap to the lower midfield and took some of the pressure off embattled coach Jens Härtel. Marvin Stefaniak gave Auer the lead after 20 minutes. Eric Uhlmann (82) ensured the final score in front of 10,187 spectators.
Until Stefaniak's first goal of the season gave them the surprise lead, Munich were the better team. Kevin Volland scored in the 6th minute with a direct corner kick to make it 1-0, but the goal was disallowed due to an alleged obstruction of Aue keeper Martin Männel. Immediately before Aue took the lead, 1860 striker Florian Niederlechner hit the post.
