The Dutch company Banketbakkerij Merba has recalled cookie varieties of various brands throughout Germany due to possible metal parts. The company announced on Friday that it could not rule out the possibility of metal contaminants in individual packs. Consumption is not recommended. The affected products were sold at Rewe, Edeka, Lidl, Kaufland, Netto, Netto Markendiscount, Penny, Tegut, Aldi Nord, Famila Nordost and the wholesalers Metro and Markant.

The product in question is the 200-gram pack of "Edeka Cookies Triple Chocolate". The lot number is L2334103 and the best-before date is December 6, 2024. Also affected by the recall are, for example, the "Sondey Soft Baked Cookies Weisse Schokolade & Zitrone" sold at Lidl with 210 grams, the best-before date December 13, 2024 and the lot number L2334809. A list of all products can be found on the portal lebensmittelwarnung.de.

According to the manufacturer, the affected retailers have withdrawn the corresponding goods from sale. Other items and other best-before dates or batch numbers are not covered by the recall. Consumers can return affected cookie packs to supermarkets and discounters without presenting the receipt. The purchase price will be refunded.
