Saxony's infrastructure is also ageing and in urgent need of renovation. The state is now providing additional money for this.

Saxony is providing an additional twelve million euros for urgently needed infrastructure projects in the new year. One focus is on the planning and construction of bridges and roads, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development announced.

In particular, 2.5 million euros are available for planning the replacement of the Agra Bridge on the Bundesstraße 2 in Markkleeberg. A new bridge is also required on the B172 federal highway over the railroad tracks in Bad Schandau. A good one million euros will be made available for planning and preparation.

The reconstruction of the Wilsdruff junction (highway 4) will cost around 2.2 million euros. Other projects include the renewal of the state road 248 in Limbach-Oberfrohna, the expansion of the S223 in Lengefeld and the upgrading of the S216 in Kühnhaide as a detour,
