Refugee Council launches campaign for the interests of asylum seekers

Organization sees right to asylum threatened

"2025 - a year of isolation, deportation and the abandonment of fundamental values. Refugees are being turned back at borders, benefits cut to zero, reception programs ended. The right to asylum has rarely been as threatened as it is today," explained Dave Schmidtke, spokesperson for the Refugee Council. A strong civil society based on solidarity is needed more than ever.

Campaign also aims to help expand the work of the Refugee Council

The Refugee Council wants to use the campaign to secure and expand its own work. Donations have therefore been requested. The aim is to raise 50,000 euros by the end of October. Donations are intended to help establish long-term independent funding from below: "So that we can continue to stand up for protection, solidarity and human dignity."

"Flight is not a temporary crisis, but an expression of global inequality, war and persecution. People are seeking protection, but are increasingly confronted with bureaucratic and social coldness, political calculation and growing rejection," it said. Something must be done to counter this.
