In the beginning there was an empty wall. Then came the idea: something has to go there! Wallpaper was out of the question back then in the Kurländer Palais - sandstone successfully resists wallpaper. But pictures? They could fit! So Gerd Kastenmeier came up with the idea of organizing exhibitions here in the new fish restaurant - a new one every six to eight weeks! That was exactly one hundred exhibitions ago, so the plan from 2010 has worked out and has also survived the move of the "Kastenmeiers" restaurant to the Taschenbergpalais. Exhibition number one hundred will be held there by Steffen Schuster, an artist from Radebeul. He had already applied in 2023: "I simply applied by email - without a gallery behind me, I'm more on commission and in the private sector!" His exhibition is aptly titled "Zwischenwelten". It shows analog craftsmanship and digital worlds. There is a lot of craftsmanship in the large-format pictures, which merge photography and acrylic painting. Steffen Schuster had no problem explaining the process step by step - knowing full well that no one would be able to do it so quickly anyway.
As always, anyone who wants to see the exhibition can do so before the restaurant officially opens every day from around 3 to 5 pm. Sabine Mutschke, who introduced the artist at the opening, added with a wink: "Of course, we'd be delighted if you stayed afterwards and enjoyed the evening with us!"
The Zwischenwelten exhibition can be viewed until April 24 at Restaurant Kastenmeiers in the Taschenbergpalais in Dresden.
