Many CSCs in Saxony are taking off after the partial legalization of cannabis. Clubs in Leipzig, Chemnitz, Oberlausitz and Dresden in the starting blocks.

Many cannabis social clubs (CSC) in Saxony are in the starting blocks following the partial legalization of cannabis passed by the Bundestag. "According to my information, there are currently a dozen cannabis social clubs in various stages of formation in Saxony," said the chairman of the umbrella organization of German cannabis social clubs, Steffen Geyer, to the German Press Agency. About half of them are active clubs, the other half are "loose alliances of CSC enthusiasts". Over the next two years, Geyer expects to see around 200 such clubs in Bavaria.

According to the federal government's plans, the clubs should be allowed to start up from July. Originally, many of them had expected to start in January and some had already rented space. Clubs in Leipzig, Chemnitz, Upper Lusatia and Dresden are listed on the homepage of the CSC roofers' association.

The law was passed in the Bundestag on Friday. It is expected to be passed by the Bundesrat on March 22. It does not require approval, but the chamber of the federal states could, in principle, call on the mediation committee with the Bundestag and slow down the process.

From April, adults aged 18 and over will be allowed to possess up to 25 grams of cannabis for personal use. Three live cannabis plants are to become legal in one's own home and up to 50 grams of cannabis for personal use. Clubs for non-commercial cultivation are to become possible on July 1. Public consumption is to be banned in schools, sports facilities and within sight of them - specifically within 100 meters as the crow flies around the entrance area.
