Low water levels are bringing parts of the ferry service in Dresden to a standstill. How Monday's rain is affecting the situation.

Due to low water levels in the Elbe River, ferry service in Dresden remains limited. The “Johanna” ferry cannot operate between Johannstadt and Neustadt, nor can the “Caroline” ferry between Niederpoyritz and Laubegast, according to Dresden’s public transit authority. However, Monday’s rain is having a positive effect on water levels. All ferries are expected to resume service starting Tuesday afternoon.

Water levels of more than 50 centimeters are required for reliable ferry service. According to the State Flood Center, the water level in Dresden was 46 centimeters on Monday afternoon.
