To mark the 35th anniversary, a few more cars have rolled off the production line at the VW plant in Zwickau. Six all-electric models are being produced there.

The Volkswagen plant in Zwickau is building slightly more cars again this year. By the end of the year, it will have produced around 212,000 vehicles, CEO Danny Auerswald told the German Press Agency. This is an increase of around 4 percent compared to the previous year. However, the potential capacity is more than 300,000 vehicles.

Production in Dresden is coming to an end

The Zwickau e-car factory, which currently employs around 8,500 people, produces six models for Volkswagen, Audi and Cupra in two-shift operation. In contrast, vehicle production at the Gläserne Manufaktur in Dresden is coming to an end this month. Like the engine plant in Chemnitz, it also belongs to Volkswagen Saxony.
