The sharp rise in fuel prices has led to an increase in fuel tourism from Saxony to the Czech Republic. The federal police have observed an increase in so-called small border traffic at individual border crossings, as spokesman Marcel Pretzsch reported on request. Drivers were mainly heading for petrol stations near the German-Czech border. However, there were no traffic obstructions as a result.
The price of diesel jumped above the two-euro mark on Wednesday due to the turmoil caused by the war in Iran. In the morning price peak at 7.15 a.m., the ADAC determined a nationwide average price of 2.054 euros per liter. Super E10 petrol also rose significantly and cost 1.995 euros per liter at the morning peak. In the Czech Republic, diesel and petrol were significantly cheaper.
