Due to elevated levels of a substance harmful to health, the supermarket chain Go Asia is recalling bamboo shoot strips. According to the website lebensmittelwarnung.de, the recall affects 567-gram cans of the “Bamboo Shot Strips” product from the Royal Orient brand with a best-by date of September 29, 2028. As of now, the bamboo shoots were sold in all federal states except Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The hazardous substance is the chemical compound bisphenol A, which is believed to have leached from the can and into the shoots. The products can be returned to any Go-Asia store. The purchase price will be refunded. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
