The serious disturbances during the Dresden vs. Hertha match will be met with severe penalties. Dynamo is now taking the matter to the DFB Federal Court.

Dynamo Dresden has filed an appeal within the deadline against the ruling of the DFB Sports Court regarding the sanctions imposed following the riots during the second-division match against Hertha BSC. The next step will be a hearing at the German Football Association’s Federal Court.

“After consulting with the relevant committees, we made a conscious decision to take this step. The proceedings at the hearing in Frankfurt did not meet our expectations as a club. We are confident that we will have a better opportunity to have our arguments heard in a new round of hearings before the DFB Federal Court,” said Dynamo Managing Director Stephan Zimmermann in a club statement.

During Hertha’s 1-0 victory in Dresden on April 4, there was, among other things, massive use of pyrotechnics and riots in the stands. The police had to intervene, and the game was interrupted for a long time. Numerous people were injured.

Sports Court Rejects Dynamo’s Argumentation

As a result, Hertha was fined 152,000 euros, while Dynamo must pay 91,200 euros. In addition, fans will be partially barred from the next two Dynamo home games. However, the second game has been suspended on probation until summer 2027. Furthermore, both teams must develop a joint security plan for upcoming matches and reduce the number of visiting fans.

Dresden viewed the partial ban on spectators as a collective punishment and had filed an appeal against it. However, the Saxons’ arguments failed to convince the sports court.
