Martin Demichelis will make his competitive debut as coach of RB Leipzig in an evening match. The Bundesliga club will face Eintracht Trier on August 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the first round of the DFB Cup, according to the German Football Association. Two and a half hours earlier, the Saxon state cup champion Erzgebirge Aue will host Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
One day later, second-division clubs Dynamo Dresden and 1. FC Magdeburg will kick off their DFB Cup campaigns for the year. Dresden will travel to face Westfalia Rhynern in Hamm. The match will be played at Preußen Münster’s stadium (3:30 p.m.). At the same time, Magdeburg will face Bahlinger SC, which was relegated from the Oberliga in Baden.
Also at 3:30 p.m., Thuringian State Cup champion FC Carl Zeiss Jena will host second-division side Darmstadt 98. Hallesche FC, the state cup champion of Saxony-Anhalt, will wrap up the weekend with a home game against Bundesliga newcomer Schalke 04 on Monday (8:45 p.m.).
