Dresden. During SG Dynamo Dresden’s home game against Hertha BSC on Saturday, September 19, 2026, particularly strict security measures will be in effect around the Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion. The state capital of Dresden has classified the match as a high-risk game and issued a general order.
Given the experiences from last season, the measures are particularly extensive. At that time, the match between Dynamo Dresden and Hertha BSC was marred by unpleasant riots. For the authorities, this is apparently a reason to impose stricter regulations for the next match between Dynamo and Hertha and to contain potential risks in advance.
Pyrotechnics, Masking, and Protective Gear Banned
On game day, between 5:30 p.m. and midnight, numerous items may not be carried within a designated area. This includes, first and foremost, pyrotechnics of any kind. In addition, the order applies to certain knives, work gloves, protective gloves, and puncture-resistant gloves.
Various items of equipment that could be used for protection or to conceal one’s identity during confrontations are also prohibited. These include, among other things, protective vests, body armor, helmets, balaclavas, and masks. Medical masks are an exception to this rule.
Also affected are disposable coveralls, tube scarves, boxing mouthguards or dental guards, and a special hooded jacket with integrated goggles.
With these restrictions, officials aim to prevent items from being used as tools for violence, property damage, or to hinder identity verification.
Restricted Zone Around the Stadium
The regulation applies to a precisely defined area around the stadium. It begins at Lennéplatz and extends along Parkstraße to Zinzendorfstraße. From there, the area extends along Zinzendorfstraße and Lingnerallee to Grunaer Straße.
The zone continues along Grunaer Straße inland toward Straßburger Platz. Lennéstraße between Straßburger Platz and Lennéplatz is also included.
With this measure, the city is implementing a significantly stricter security plan for the match. Particularly in light of last season’s events, the goal is to prevent potential conflicts early on and to support law enforcement in inspecting suspicious items.
For spectators, this means: Anyone attending the game on September 19 should ensure, even while traveling to the venue, that they do not carry any of the prohibited items within the designated area.
