Lawyer Holger Wöckel has been elected as a new judge at the Federal Constitutional Court by the Federal Council. He replaces Sibylle Kessal-Wulf and has been a judge at the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig since February 2021.
According to Michael Kellner (Greens), Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics, the budget ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court has a particularly negative impact on eastern Germany.
