Science City Jena loses last game of the season at Alba

Science City Jena ended the season in the German Basketball League with a defeat. The promoted team lost 65:83 (31:38) in front of 6,041 spectators at second-placed Alba Berlin. However, the last game of the main round was meaningless because the team had already secured its place in the league on Friday with a home win against Heidelberg. Jena's top scorer was Joe Wieskamp with 16 points.

The visitors got off to an easy start. Although they conceded a few turnovers, they benefited from Berlin's miserable shooting percentage. And when Jena also missed shots from beyond the arc, it pulled 21:8 ahead in the first period.

Jena fights back to the end

Alba then stepped up its intensity in the second period and put Jena under pressure early on in its build-up play. As a result, the visitors first made more mistakes and then their shooting percentage dropped. Only three points were scored in six minutes. As a result, the home side closed the gap again and took the lead shortly before the break.

After the break, Jena trailed by ten points, but the visitors fought back and closed the gap to three points again at the end of the third quarter (54:57). However, Jena had nothing more to add in the final period and so Alba ran out clear winners.
