The RB Leipzig women's soccer team moved into mid-table in the women's Bundesliga with a win at table rivals Hamburger SV. The team from Saxony secured a 2:1 (1:1) win at the Volksparkstadion. Lotta Wrede had put the hosts ahead after 14 minutes. Lisa Baum, who moved to Leipzig from HSV before the season, equalized practically on the counterattack. Emilia Asgeirsdottir gave them the lead in the 83rd minute, before Delice Boboy scored the winner in stoppage time to prevent the RB women from slipping further into the danger zone.
Without coach Daniel Stephan, who had to serve a ban in the stands after picking up his fourth yellow card, the RB women dominated the game and should have taken the lead through Marlene Müller after eight minutes, but HSV took the lead. A mistake in Leipzig's build-up play was punished harshly. But RB responded immediately: Baum shot from long range and beat HSV goalkeeper Lea Paulick, who did not look good in the process.
After that, the visitors had more chances, but Hamburg's many-legged defense was always able to block at the last moment. Leipzig also missed numerous very good opportunities in the second half, but were also lucky that the increasingly strong HSV women also missed several promising chances. It was only in the final phase that RB gave expression to their superiority with two goals.
