RB Leipzig will be looking to extend a long run against newly promoted 1. FC Köln. The Saxons have never lost to a promoted team in their Bundesliga history. There have been 31 wins and five draws in matches so far. Their record against the Rhinelanders is also remarkable. There have only been two defeats in 14 games (seven wins, five draws). The last home game against Cologne ended 6-0, but Cologne started the season with seven points from three games for the first time since 2016.
"They are very dynamic and very willing to play. They're flexible with the ball, vary their basic formation and have scored at the back from time to time recently, advancing late in the cup - that gives you confidence," analyzed RB head coach Ole Werner ahead of the top match this Saturday (18:30/Sky). Following the injuries to Xaver Schlager (calf) and Antonio Nusa in the Mainz game, Lukas Klostermann (muscular problems) and Max Finkgräfe (knee) are now also out. This also opens up the chance of a squad place for Timo Werner.
