According to several media reports, RB Leipzig are now in talks with Matthias Jaissle to fill the coaching position. The Bundesliga club is said to have reached an agreement with the former Werder coach Ole Werner. However, RB's expectations regarding a transfer fee for Werner are said to be far removed from those of their Bremen rivals.
As reported by the magazine "Kicker" and the TV channel Sky, there is now also said to be interest in Jaissle. The 37-year-old currently coaches the club Al-Ahly in Saudi Arabia, where his contract runs until 2026. As the former coach of Red Bull Salzburg, Jaissle has already worked as head coach of a team from the RB area.
In Leipzig, Zsolt Löw was in office as interim coach until the end of the season following the departure of Marco Rose. After Werner declared that he did not want to extend his contract in Bremen, which expires next year, he was released by Werder shortly afterwards. He would therefore be available for Leipzig, who are not in the European Cup next season after a disappointing season.
