Lena Oberdorf made a brilliant starting eleven debut for defending champions FC Bayern Munich after tearing her cruciate ligament. The 23-year-old midfielder scored a brace in the 3-0 (1-0) win at RB Leipzig on matchday 2 of the Bundesliga.
In front of 10,287 spectators at the Red Bull Arena, the international put the champions ahead in the tenth minute. She followed this up in the 57th minute with a spectacular long-range shot into the far corner. Vanessa Gilles made the final score in stoppage time. Bayern, who dominated throughout the game, thus won their fifth league match against Leipzig for the fifth time.
Oberdorf had suffered the injury in a preparation match against Austria in the run-up to the Olympic Games in Paris and was ruled out for the entire season after joining Bayern from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2024. She made her competitive debut for the champions on August 30 in the 4-2 Super Cup win over runners-up VfL Wolfsburg. The ex-Wolfsburg player was substituted in the 62nd minute for her debut for FC Bayern.
