SV Elversberg salvaged a late point against newly promoted Dynamo Dresden, but missed out on the leap to the top of the Bundesliga 2 table. The Saarland side were held to a 2:2 (1:2) draw on matchday 5 and are now fifth with ten points. Dresden are still stuck in the basement with four points in 15th place.
In front of 9,307 fans, Christoph Daferner scored in the 3rd minute and Jakob Lemmer (39th) for the visitors. Younes Ebnoutalib (9./90.+2) scored twice for the home side, who only missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga in relegation last season.
A lively first half
Dynamo got off to a dream start. After a mistake by Elversberg defender Lukas Pinckert, who crossed the ball at the halfway line, Daferner suddenly had a clear run and held his nerve in front of SVE goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof. It was the striker's third goal of the season.
The home side's reply was not long in coming, however. Ebnoutalib headed in the equalizer from a Tom Zimmerschied free-kick. And the action continued. First Daferner failed to clear Kristof, then Dynamo goalkeeper Tim Schreiber made two brilliant saves from Ebnoutalib and Bambasé Conté.
Even when the visitors retook the lead, Elversberg's defense was not up to the task. The beneficiary was Lemmer, who only had to slot home after a cross from Niklas Hauptmann. After the changeover, the Saarland side pressed for an equalizer and were rewarded in stoppage time with Ebnoutalib's fourth goal of the season, who had already scored twice in the 2-0 win over Hertha BSC before the international break.
