Great goalscorer Harry Kane is definitely missing due to a yellow card suspension. But captain Manuel Neuer (39) could be back in goal for FC Bayern Munich's championship win against RB Leipzig on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky) after two months out through injury.
"Manu had a good week of training," reported coach Vincent Kompany. That sounded like a Neuer comeback. But then the Bayern coach added on Friday morning that they would only sit down internally after the secret final training session in Munich and decide "what's best for him and the team". Youngster Jonas Urbig (21) could therefore be back in goal.
No risk ahead of the Club World Cup
Neuer tore a muscle fiber in his calf in the first leg of the round of 16 against Bayer Leverkusen at the beginning of March. The injury then flared up again after a setback in training. The 39-year-old is not expected to take any risks in view of the lucrative Club World Cup (June 15 to July 13) in the USA.
The league leaders can become German champions for the 34th time with a win in Leipzig on the third-to-last Bundesliga matchday. Kompany spoke of "a final" in Saxony: "We definitely want to win tomorrow and become champions."
