Change in Leadership at Dynamo Dresden: Thomas Blümel Removed from the Supervisory Board
A surprising change has taken place on Dynamo Dresden’s supervisory board. Thomas Blümel has been removed from the club’s supervisory body. This follows proceedings before the Honorary Council, which examined the conduct of the long-time Dynamo official.
The proceedings were prompted by allegations that Blümel had violated his duties as a member of the supervisory board and disclosed internal club information to third parties. After hearings and witness testimony, the Honorary Council concluded that there had been a breach of the duty of care and loyalty. In addition to being removed from the supervisory board, Blümel was also expelled from the club until the end of his current term of office.
The decision is largely final within the club’s organizational structure. According to the bylaws, a review would only be possible if the factual or legal situation were to change significantly.
For Blümel, the decision marks a significant turning point. The Dresden native had close ties to Dynamo for many years and had previously held leadership roles on the supervisory board. In 2013, he briefly served as the board’s chair. He also regained the trust of the club members in the supervisory board election in November 2025.
