Former ice hockey professional Jens Baxmann is to become the new sports director at the newly promoted DEL team Dresdner Eislöwen. As the club announced, the 40-year-old is moving immediately from the second-division ice hockey club Lausitzer Füchse to the Elbe and signing a three-year contract.
Baxmann succeeds Matthias Roos, who was relieved of his duties as sporting director of the bottom-of-the-table team in November following the departure of coach Niklas Sundblad.
Baxmann played 939 games as a defenseman for Eisbären Berlin and Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League between 2003 and 2022 and made 39 appearances for the German national team. He celebrated seven German championship titles with the Berliners until 2019.
