The reason for the volatile double home matchday for Hertha BSC and Union Berlin on Saturday are public holidays in several other federal states. "The scheduling of the 9th matchday of the Bundesliga and the 11th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga had to take into account, among other things, the public holiday legislation in several federal states as well as the scheduling of the DFB Cup matches," the German Football League (DFL) announced on request.
The scheduling was therefore carried out in coordination with the police. The fact that both Berlin clubs are playing a home game on the same day is an exception.
