Coach Jens Härtel is coming under increasing pressure at FC Erzgebirge Aue. The Saxons lost the atmospheric East derby at Energie Cottbus 1:2 (1:1) and remain in a relegation place in the 3rd Football League. It was the fourth defeat in the sixth game of the season.
Moritz Hannemann had put Cottbus ahead after just 67 seconds. Julian Guttau (15) equalized for the visitors and ensured a fair draw at the break. Aue then missed countless chances and Tolcay Cigerci (67) converted a penalty to put Energie back in front.
Aue failed to take their chances
Aue were completely overrun in the early stages and were lucky not to be 2-0 down after just five minutes. As the game progressed, Erzgebirge fought their way into the match and created their first chance to equalize. This was followed by a lively back-and-forth with good opportunities on both sides.
The minutes after the restart clearly belonged to the Saxons, who could have scored three goals in the first eight minutes alone. Jannic Ehlers put the ball just over the bar and Guttau's shot touched the far post. Cottbus punished the chance spree from the penalty spot and took the lead again.
