The downward trend in reported respiratory infections in Saxony continues. Although viruses are still circulating, the authorities believe that the current flu season is coming to an end.

Saxony's health authorities are registering fewer and fewer respiratory diseases. For the second week of April, the State Investigation Office reported a 37 percent drop in cases of influenza and a 17 percent drop in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections. However, with 46 coronavirus cases, six more were reported than in the previous week - their number is "still at a consistently low level".

According to this, 398 new influenza cases were reported from April 7 to 13, 229 fewer than in the previous week. Young and younger schoolchildren and adults are particularly affected. In addition, 399 cases of RSV infections were reported, with young children still being the most affected.
