Following a case of tuberculosis at BSZ Kamenz, a further infection has been confirmed. The affected person is being treated and school operations are continuing as normal.

In connection with a case of tuberculosis at the vocational school center "Konrad Zuse" (BSZ) in Kamenz, the health department has identified another infection. The person concerned is currently undergoing inpatient medical treatment, the office announced. Further tests are being carried out on 140 contact persons.

School operations at the BSZ can therefore continue without restriction. According to the current assessment, there is no increased risk for the general population.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria and mainly affects the lungs. It is transmitted when infected people excrete pathogens when coughing and sneezing. According to the World Health Organization, around half of those infected die without treatment. With four to six months of treatment, around 85 percent of people can be cured.
