Protest against the imprisonment of non-binary Maja T. in Hungary: The Saxon state parliament has to interrupt its session because the visitors' gallery suddenly gets loud.

Left-wing activists have disrupted a session of the Saxon state parliament with a loud protest against the imprisonment of non-binary person Maja T. (24). A group of around ten people chanted "Free Maja", among other things, during a speech by head of government Michael Kretschmer (CDU), causing the session to be interrupted. The young people were led outside by security staff.

Maja T. is in custody in Budapest. The competent court had recently rejected an application to transfer her to house arrest. Maja T. is accused of being involved in acts of violence against actual or suspected right-wing extremists in Budapest in February 2023 and of being jointly responsible for serious bodily harm.

This kind of behavior is not a way to engage in debate, said Parliament President Alexander Dierks. It not only contradicts the management of the Saxon State Parliament, but also very clearly contradicts the dignity and culture of debate in the House. "Of course, it also contradicts the way in which we resolve conflicts in our society."
