Saxony wants to promote a visit to the Free State at the world's most important tourism trade fair ITB in Berlin (March 5 to 7). "The European Capital of Culture 2025 in Chemnitz is a great opportunity to make Saxony known as the number one cultural travel destination in Germany with other facets worth experiencing," said Saxony's Tourism Minister Barbara Klepsch on Monday.

The CDU politician plans to visit the trade fair on Wednesday. In addition to Chemnitz as European Capital of Culture, the Free State wants to draw attention to other internationally relevant travel occasions: for example, the traces of Caspar David Friedrich in the painter's 250th anniversary year and the European Football Championship with Leipzig as the venue.

In Berlin, the diverse travel destinations in Saxony will be presented by Tourismus Marketing Gesellschaft Sachsen together with the cities of Dresden and Leipzig as well as the destinations Chemnitz-Zwickau region and the Ore Mountains. The highlight - the Capital of Culture Chemnitz - will be the focus of particular attention.
