Companies, service providers and research institutes from the eastern German solar industry want to drive the sector forward with a network. Members of this so-called cluster with the name "Spot on" want to network better and thus strengthen eastern Germany as a solar location, as the Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland Management GmbH announced on Friday after the founding meeting of the association in Halle. The association is also inviting other players to participate.

"The work of the new network will particularly address the interests of small and medium-sized companies in the solar industry and related sectors, from project developers and solar park operators to service providers for installation and maintenance to providers of storage solutions and cleantech start-ups," said the Managing Director of Leipziger Energie GmbH & Co KG, Danny Wehnert. In future, regional value creation cycles are also to be initiated and expanded through the work of the cluster.

The network's work is planned to focus on promoting the transfer of innovation between research and companies, initiating and supporting technology projects and industrial implementation projects as well as supporting companies in the recruitment and training of skilled workers. According to the information provided, the initiative of the European Metropolitan Region of Central Germany, the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics CSP and Anhalt University of Applied Sciences initiated the idea of founding the cluster.
