The CDU parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament no longer sees any scope for additional staff in the state administration. Saxony currently has the fourth-highest staffing ratio in Germany, said its finance expert Jan Löffler on Friday at a budget meeting of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in Zwickau. This is a "sporting challenge". We have to try to manage all upcoming tasks with the available personnel. Digitalization and artificial intelligence could help with this.

According to the head of the parliamentary group, Christian Hartmann, the focus must be on reducing staff in the long term. This is also "feasible in a relaxed manner". Around 7,000 positions in the state administration are already unfilled today because the staff cannot be found. The wage agreement would mean an extra billion euros in the state budget next year, Hartmann clarified. The CDU had agreed on key figures for the future budget at its closed meeting.
