The Dresden hip-hop scene in the global spotlight? It might sound strange to many, but it’s true: on November 21, 2026, the House of Urban Culture (HOUC) will bring a total of 16 of the world’s best power movers to Dresden. At a venue that may be unfamiliar to the scene—the arena of the Dresden Christmas Circus—the “Arena of Power” will host an international powermove battle unlike anything the world has ever seen.
The powermove artists are coming to Dresden from all over the world, including the U.S., Korea, Mexico, Brazil, England, Italy, Greece, and Venezuela. Powermoves are among the most spectacular and physically demanding elements in breaking, and only a handful of people worldwide have mastered some of the moves that will be on display at ARENA OF STYLEZ. Felix Rossberg, managing director at HOUC and an active dancer himself, highlights a unique feature: “In our event, women, men, and up-and-coming talents compete directly against one another in a battle for the title!”
Power moves are among the most spectacular and physically demanding elements in breaking. The dancers spin on their hands, heads, and upper bodies, switch between complex combinations, and literally fly through the arena. “Only a handful of people worldwide can pull off some of the moves that will be showcased in Dresden!” says Felix Rossberg. That said, the level of dance artistry has advanced enormously, especially in recent years. “New combinations and movements are emerging that were barely imaginable just a few years ago!”
The evening under the circus tent is sure to be spectacular—and the organizers expect the arena to be packed. That would be 2,500 people… For circus director Sascha Köllner, this is a great thing: “I think what the guys are doing is awesome, too!” he says. The Arena of Power is the third additional use for the circus tent—following the flashlight concert, and with Ringlife Combat Series 9, the Chapiteau will become a combat arena. According to Köllner, these expansions were always part of the plan—it would be a shame to set up the tent just for the circus. Besides, circus and breaking have a lot in common: body control, creativity, and the courage to push boundaries.
