RB is traveling to the African continent for the first time. From the base camp in Johannesburg, the aim is to get to know and understand South Africa. A test match is also on the program.

Football Bundesliga club RB Leipzig is going on its promotional tour to South Africa with 16 professionals and ten young players. In addition to the six players nominated for the World Cup, David Raum (Germany), Nikolas Seiwald, Christoph Baumgartner, Xaver Schlage (all Austria), Antonio Nusa (Norway) and Yan Diomande (Ivory Coast), Maarten Vaandevoordt (Belgium), Andrija Maksimovic and Kosta Nedeljkovic (both Serbia) and Ridle Baku are also missing from this year's post-season tour.

The German international, who will not be playing at the World Cup, is suffering from an infection and may still be able to join the squad if his recovery progresses.

The highlight of the trip, which lasts until 30 May, is a test match on Friday evening (20:00) in Pretoria against 15-time South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns. There will also be insights into the South African sporting and cultural world as well as contacts with the people, fans and traditions of this sport-loving country.
