RB Heads to Training Camp Without Diomande and Gulacsi, Who Are Sick

Yan Diomande will not be traveling with Leipzig to training camp for the time being. The forward, who is set to join Real Madrid, has withdrawn due to an infection. A goalkeeper will also not be traveling with the team.

The transfer of RB Leipzig’s rising star Yan Diomande to Real Madrid, which was expected any day now, continues to drag on. The Ivorian was not seen during the Saxons’ friendly match against third-division club SC Verl (4-0) either. The official statement was that Diomande had an infection.

However, since he is also not on the roster for the training camp in Saalfelden, Austria—which began after the match against Verl—it can be assumed that negotiations are still ongoing behind the scenes. “As soon as he has recovered, he will join the team,” Leipzig announced.

It’s all about the money. According to various reports, Real Madrid is said to have offered 105 million euros, while RB Leipzig is reportedly demanding at least 120 million. Diomande, who joined Leipzig a year ago from Spanish second-division club CD Leganés for 20 million euros, does not have a buyout clause in his contract.

Gulacsi in talks with Villarreal?

A transfer for goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is also becoming increasingly likely. The Hungarian, who has been in Leipzig for eleven years and is expected to lose his starting spot for the new season, is being linked with Villarreal. Leipzig announced that the goalkeeper is currently in talks with another club and will therefore not be joining the team at training camp.

After two very hard-fought friendly wins against VSG Altglienicke (2–1) and FC Ingolstadt (1–0), coach Martin Demichelis’s team looked fresher and more determined against Verl.

Lukas Klostermann (60’+1), Ridle Baku (71’), Ezechiel Banzuzi (84’), and Conrad Harder (120’) scored the goals in the match, which consisted of two 60-minute halves. In the lively match, both teams squandered several top-notch chances, with RB hitting the woodwork twice.
