Leipzig's handball team can barely avoid relegation. But the personnel plans for league two are almost complete.

Despite the impending relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga, the SC DHfK Leipzig handball team has extended the contracts of several players. Luka Rogan, Blær Hinriksson and Matěj Klima will continue to play for the Leipzig club. "Relegation is extremely painful for all of us, but right now I want to take responsibility. The support of the fans here is unique and I want to do my part to ensure that we show a strong reaction as a team in the 2nd division and experience successful times again," said Czech international Matěj Klima in a statement from the club.

With two matchdays remaining in the season, the Saxons are four points and 38 goals behind a non-relegation place. "Relegation is now only a theoretical scenario," wrote the club itself. SC DHfK has also signed Fritz-Leon Haake from Dessau-Roßlauer HV. The 21-year-old right-handed player has signed a contract until the summer of 2028.
