On Monday afternoon, three children were robbed by two youths in the north of Leipzig. The two youths were arrested and a warrant was issued for the arrest of a 15-year-old. The two youths (15, Syrian; 16, German) approached three thirteen-year-olds in Georg-Schumann-Straße on Monday afternoon and asked them for valuables. Out of fear, two of the children handed over items they had with them. The third child was punched and kicked by the youths and suffered minor injuries. The youths also asked him to buy e-cigarettes the next day in order to hand them over. The two youths were apprehended by police officers. The 16-year-old had a pocket knife with him during the crime, which was seized by the officers. The young people were provisionally arrested by order of the Leipzig public prosecutor's office and taken to the central police custody on Monday evening. Yesterday, Tuesday, the 15-year-old was brought before a magistrate, who issued and executed an arrest warrant. The 15-year-old was then transferred to a youth detention center. The 16-year-old was released on the instructions of the public prosecutor's office. The investigation into the suspicion of aggravated robbery is still ongoing.
