This morning, the police in Leipzig received a report of an altercation between several people that took place in Saalfelder Straße in the Neulindenau district. Initial reports indicated that people had got out of several vehicles and started fighting. Numerous witnesses alerted the emergency services, who responded immediately and dispatched several patrol cars and support staff from the task force to the scene.
The altercation led to a short-term restriction of bus services operated by Leipzig's public transport company in the area. After intensive efforts by the emergency services, the groups, which belonged to different extended families, were successfully separated. Several reports of mutual assault between individual members of the groups involved were made directly at the scene. The incident will now result in police action, while the exact circumstances of the conflict are the subject of further investigations.
