The mostly warm and sunny summer brought a good season to the outdoor pools in Saxony. According to reports from the outdoor pools in Leipzig, Dresden, Chemnitz, and Plauen, there were significantly more visitors than in the rather rainy previous year. This summer, the five outdoor pools in Leipzig and the “Robbe” children’s wading pool at the Schwimmhalle Nord recorded 224,820 visitors. This represents a 28 percent increase compared to the previous year and marks the third-best year on record. Only in 2018 (264,828) and 2024 (250,669) were even more visitors recorded. The busiest day of the season was June 27, with a total of 9,740 visitors. In the state capital of Dresden, 286,200 guests flocked to the eight outdoor pools—20 percent more than the previous year. Here, too, the busiest day was June 27, with 14,248 swimmers. In Chemnitz, approximately 25,000 more people visited the outdoor pools this year than the previous year. In Plauen, the best year for outdoor pools since 2019 was recorded. According to city officials, nearly 44,700 visitors were counted; the previous year, the number was just under 30,000 due to bad weather. In all four cities, June 27 and 28 were the busiest days.
