Heiterblick Concludes Bankruptcy Proceedings

Leipzig-based tram manufacturer Heiterblick has completed its insolvency proceedings and now plans to focus on fulfilling its orders. The company announced that the relevant courts had approved the termination of the proceedings. This marks the completion of the restructuring.

Trams are being built again

Heiterblick announced that production for Würzburg and Dortmund has now fully resumed. The first vehicles for the Leipzig public transit authority are also in production.

In addition, Heiterblick is getting new leadership. Ulrich Lauel, who, according to the company, has been active in the tram industry for more than 30 years, is taking over as CEO. The previous management team has been reorganized.

In the coming months, the new leadership plans to focus primarily on the production and delivery of the ordered trams, as well as on integration into the Polish Pesa Group.

A Fresh Start Under Polish Ownership

Pesa completed the acquisition of the Leipzig-based tram manufacturer—which had previously run into financial difficulties—in early July. Heiterblick had fallen into crisis in the spring of 2025 and had undergone a self-administered restructuring process. The reasons for this included rising costs and supply chain issues. The company most recently employed around 250 people.
