The Dresdner SC women's volleyball team suffered a surprising loss on the fifth matchday of the Bundesliga. The six-time German champions lost 2-3 (28-30, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21, 7-15) to Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt after a lackluster performance. For Alexander Waibl’s team, it was their third league loss and their first-ever defeat against the Thuringian team. As early as Saturday, the DSC women will host last year’s champions, Suhl, in their home arena. In front of 746 spectators, the Champions League participant never really found its rhythm. The visitors struggled with major receiving problems, committed numerous serving errors, and also showed some inconsistencies in nearly all aspects of their game and in their teamwork. Time and again, they fell behind against the Erfurt team, who played with courage and determination. Although they showed great fighting spirit to come back from a 1-2 set deficit, almost nothing went right in the decisive tiebreaker. As a result, former Dresden player Lina-Marie Lieb converted the third match point after 135 minutes. Copyright 2026, dpa (www.dpa.de). All rights reserved
