Diego Demme will leave second division soccer club Hertha BSC after this season. "Hertha is over," said the 34-year-old midfielder after the 1-0 defeat at 1. FC Magdeburg. Demme moved to Berlin from Napoli two years ago, but struggled with head injuries and dizziness for almost the entire time.
Despite his medical history, which saw the one-time senior international make just 22 appearances in two years for the Berlin club, Demme still has an appetite for soccer. "I would like to stop differently," said the former RB Leipzig player.
At the beginning of the year, there was already speculation about the possibility of a return to Italy. "I'll see if something comes in again in the summer that is interesting for me, otherwise it will be my last game in Bielefeld," said Demme. Before the season finale on the Bielefeld Alm, Hertha will play a home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth next Sunday.
