Only twelve professional footballers were welcomed to team training by RB Leipzig coach Ole Werner on Tuesday. As a dozen players are traveling with their respective national teams, six youngsters from the club's own U19s have been added to the squad for the start of preparations for the home match against Hamburger SV on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky and Dazn), the club announced.
Reunion with Poulsen in the balance
Coach Werner prepared goalkeepers Peter Gulacsi and Leopold Zingerle in particular, as well as defenders Chad Bitshiabu, Lukas Klostermann and Castello Jr. for the reunion with long-serving RB player Yussuf Poulsen.
It is still unclear whether the striker, who moved from Leipzig to the Bundesliga promotion side in the summer, will be able to play in Leipzig. The Denmark international has only played 50 Bundesliga minutes for HSV so far.
Seven players were available for the midfield and attack in Johan Bakayoko, Tidiam Gomis, Kevin Kampl, Andrija Maksimovic, Xaver Schlager, Rômulo and Timo Werner. The defensive players Kosta Nedeljkovic, Max Finkgräfe and Benjamin Henrichs are still in recovery training.
