FC Erzgebirge Aue missed out on their third win in a row in the 3rd Football League. On the tenth matchday, Aue coach Jens Härtel's team were held to a 2-2 (2-1) draw against Rot-Weiß Essen. In front of 8,130 spectators at the Erzgebirgsstadion, Julian Guttau put the hosts ahead twice with a brace (16th/42nd minute). Tobias Kraulich (40) and Marvin Obuz (65) equalized.
Härtel had sent his starting eleven onto the pitch unchanged after the victories against 1860 Munich and Alemannia Aachen. And the Saxons were initially successful in building on their recent good performances. Guttau gave RWE goalkeeper Jakob Golz no chance with a deflected shot.
In a game full of variety, however, the visitors came out stronger and equalized through substitute Kraulich. But just two minutes later, Guttau was again successful with a beautiful shot from the left edge of the penalty area.
After the break, Essen pressed for the equalizer and, after two shots hit the post, Obuz, who had just come on as a substitute, deservedly equalized. Essen continued to press after that and were even closer to scoring the winner than Aue.
